BRAVES WATCH JUNE 3, 2006/ GAME TWO
Tonight the DREADED BRAVES looked into the mirror and asked one question:
"Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the team the first to fall?"
"Why the ATLANTA BRAVES", the Mirror said.
"But mirror," the unrecognizable BRAVE asked, "WHY, WHY, WHY, IF YOU ***** US DO WE NOT BLEED?"
"BLEED?", said the mirror, "Yes you bleed and because you’re bleeding so much is why, you must fall."
"But mirror, can’t we still make a come back? Can we still win number 15?"
The mirror pondered, paused and laughed.
"Why are you laughing", said the unknown BRAVE ?
"Because of tonight, soon to be fallen BRAVE.
In years past when given 7 outs in an inning you pounced, you stormed, you won."
"But mirror, we did pounce, we did storm back – sort of."
"But did you win?", asked the mirror?
The unknown BRAVE looked down at the ground, kicked his feet and said sheepishly, "Why – ah – no mirror we didn’t."
"Then why do you bother me with silly questions BRAVE – go away – BEGONE and never enter these hallowed halls again."
Tonight the DREADED BRAVES lost a game that signifies the end is near.
In years past and a few times this year, the BRAVES won games they had no business winning. Games they didn’t win, but the opposition lost, gave away, gave up on.
But tonight, no matter how hard the D-BACKS tried to give a win to the DREADED BRAVES, it was not gonna happen. The D-BACKS had a 10-2 lead going into the seventh inning, but not even 2 key errors that should have been double play balls and awful D-BACK pitching could give this game away.
Yes, the DREADED BRAVES scored 7 runs in this inning and yes, they pulled within one run at 10-9, but unlike past BRAVES teams they could not finish the comeback.
That is the difference between past BRAVES teams and this year’s BRAVES team.
When Ken Ray gave up a 3-run bomb to Damion Easley in the ninth inning(Damion’s third of the game) to give the D-BACKS a 13-9 lead, the BRAVES DYNASTY became a mirror image of the past.
The 28-28 record only reflects the team the BRAVES are meant to be – AWFUL.
With the BRAVES’ doubleheader nightmare, they now fall 6 games behind our beloved METS.
But remember this MET FANS, objects in mirror appear closer then they are.

SHEA IT AIN’T SOOOOO
As I sit down to write this game’s blog, Barry Bonds just hit a single to give the GIANTS a 6-4 lead. Lets hope Benitez plays old METS baseball.
DUKE of FLUSHING did not have his best stuff today but should have had a chance to win. I don’t blame THE DUKE as much as I wonder why Willie didn’t remove him earlier. I love WILLIE as a manager but he still needs to recognize when a PITCHER does not have his stuff any more, or has lost it – like when Billy Wagner collapsed against the evil empire a few weeks back.
Valentin just walked to lead off the ninth. C-MON RAMON CASTRO
Once Willie learns how to do that (recognize) the METS will be much better off.
Ramon, 1-BALL 2 STRIKES, 2-BALLS 2-STRIKES, STRIKEOUT – CASTRO
BELTRAN PINCH HITTING, BALL ONE, BALL TWO, BALL THREE, STRIKE ONE, BALL FOUR,
First and second, one out with Julio Franco up.
BALL ONE, STRIKE ONE, BALL TWO, POP UP IN FOUL GROUND TO RIGHT -TWO OUT
Jose Reyes up and our last chance, BALL ONE, STRIKE ONE, EASY GROUNDER,
Put it in the GIANTS BOOK.
So once again the METS fail to pick up any ground, but hey, this was a fun game to listen to.
David Wright had 3 of the METS hits. Mets scored 4 runs on six hits and used 18 towels.
Lets see what tonight brings.
METS just can’t seem to get 13 games over .500
Their lead in the EAST has not changed so, in a way, NO HARM, NO FOUL.
Will blog later.

BRAVE WATCH JUNE 3, 2006/ GAME ONE
Well MET fans, the DREADED BRAVES concluded game one of their double dip with happy results for all who BELIEVE that the DYNASTY is coming to an end.
With the WIZARD of WINS being ejected in the first inning for arguing balls and strikes (AGAIN) the DREADED BRAVES and John Smoltz fell to the D-BACKS 4-2.
Chad Tracy hit a go-ahead sixth inning home run and EX-MET Jorge Julio got the save as the D-BACKS now have a chance to sweep the double dip and put a BIG hurt on the DREADED BRAVES.
The DREADED BRAVES fall to 28-27 and could be D-BACK at .500 by the end of today.

FLUSHED IN FLUSHING
On a night that saw LASTINGS MILLEDGE make his major league debut in right field for the ailing X-FACTOR NADY, who was put on the disabled list today after having his appendix removed, it was the ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS who were looking to cure and put a stop to their seven game losing streak against our MET PROFESSIONALS. With Cuban defector ALAY SOLER making his second start of the season, it looked pretty much like his first start, except this time he only gave up two first-inning runs. The second run of the inning was scored by that EVIL MR. BYRNES when ALAY SOLER threw a slurve ball (cross between curve ball and slider) back to Cuba.
The METS would score an unearned run in the second on a CHAD TRACY throwing error that would cut the lead in half, although in reality it was just an illusion that our BELOVED METS were really in this game.
Getting back to that EVIL MR. BYRNES, (insert rolling fingers AGAIN "eh-xcel-lent") his home run in the fifth (ninth of season) would be the beginning of the end of any chance the METS would have to win this game.
The fact is MET fans, ALAY SOLER could not control any of his pitches tonight. His inability to locate his fastball or even that great slurve ball must have made Fidel Castro giddy. ‘Cause soon after that EVIL MR. BYRNES hit his home run and several batters later CONNOR JACKSON hit a three-run bomb to put the game out of reach. It had longer air time than his father’s T.V. show, JAG. Which, by the way, thanks to Matt Siglock, yours truly worked on from time to time.
With that EVIL MR. BYRNES’ third home run in just two games against our BELOVED METS, I, RadioMan’s Korner, put an official vote on this year’s All Star ballot for that EVIL MR. BYRNES. I am at least sure one of my readers out there will be quite pleased.
Although ALAY SOLER had a rough outing tonight, I believe he will be a key cog and a much needed cog in the METS rotation.
Congratulation to LASTINGS MILLEDGE, who doubled in his third at bat for his first major league hit.
A tip of the hat goes to MIGUEL BATISTA of the D-BACKS for his complete game nine hit victory over our BELOVED METS.
Since the DREADED BRAVES had total bullpen collapse again tonight in their loss to the DODGERS 8-3, our BELOVED METS lost a half a game in the standings to the NOW, SECOND PLACE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES, who defeated the NATS 4-2.
Tomorrow’s game should be a dandy as PEDRO MARTINEZ faces off against 8-0 BRANDON WEBB.

WINVERDE! DOH!
What started out as Weekday at Byrney’s and continued on with hanging Chad’s dramatic three-run home run in the seventh to give the D-BACKS a 7-6 lead wound up being the key ingredient to the METS’ thirteenth come back victory of the season and their league-leading fifteenth one-run win of the season.
After a rolling thunderstorm delayed the start of the game briefly, Eric Byrnes, with one out in the first, hit a solo home run – his seventh – to give the D-BACKS a first inning 1-0 lead. Mr. Byrnes would later hit a solo shot in the fifth for his eighth home run of the season to tie the game at four. "Eh-xcel-lent!" (insert rolling fingers)
Our beloved METS, who scored four runs in the second to take a 4-1 lead, would not allow the evil Mr. Byrnes to sic the dogs on them without biting d-back.
That’s where Cliff Floyd and Jose Valentin step in – Springfielding to life and hitting solo shots in the bottom of the sixth to give our MET PROFESSIONALS a 6-4 lead entering the seventh.
The D-BACKS would turn up the heat on Aaron Heilman – who replaced the once again awful Steve Trachsel and quickly allowed two men on base with the evil Mr. Byrnes coming up to the plate. But lo and behold, Mr. Byrnes struck out on a called strike three and just about went nuclear before heading back to the dugout. Replays would show he may have had a point. But all that yelling and screaming will only get you sent to detention where you will be forced to write three hundred times, "I will not argue balls and strikes."
Now with runners on first and third and one out, enter Mr. Smithers – I mean Chad Tracy. With NO BALLS and two strikes, Aaron Heilman hung a ball so perfect that Chad Tracy hit it all the way back to Arizona to give the D-BACKS a 7-6 lead. It would stay that way until the bottom of the ninth.
Enter D-BACK closer Jose Valverde, who just a day earlier blew a one-run lead by giving up a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth against the powerful Cincinnati Reds.
Pinch hitter Endy Chavez would lead off the bottom of the ninth with a double to left. Jose Reyes would smack a single to left to drive in the tying run. Paul LoDuca would single for his fourth hit of the game, putting runners at first and third with nobody out. After Carlos Beltran was intentionally walked to load the bases, Carlos DelGado would strike out to bring us to our DOH! moment of the game, because at the plate was the WRIGHT man at the WRIGHT time getting the WRIGHT hit to center to win it for the METS WRIGHT NOW.
With this AMAZING win, our MET PROFESSIONALS upped their record to 31-19 and extended their lead in the East to four and a half games thanks to the Dodgers, who pummeled the DREADED BRAVES earlier in the day 12-5.

BRAVES WATCH MAY 28, 2006
When I said today would be the UGLIEST day of all for the CUBBIES I wasn’t kidding.
The DREADED BRAVES hit 8 BOMBS to set a team record and YET almost lost the game. Like most of the BRAVES’ wins this year, they didn’t win the game, the CUBBIES lost the game. The BRAVES gave up a four-run lead in the NINTH, thanks to Chris (I HATE MY JOB) REITSMA and only survived due to Aramis Ramirez’s eleventh-inning bungle in which a routine pop-up turned into a not so heads-up play when the BALL hit him right on top of the noggin and allowed LANGERHANS to scamper down to second, where he would eventually score the winning run.
This is how the DREADED BRAVES always seem to win. They win games they don’t deserve and call themselves superior. Maybe they were in the PAST in a way, but this year it will take a MUCH better played game to put 15 in their back pocket.
The DREADED BRAVES won 3 of 3 from the woeful Cubs and really only deserved one win at best. Rest assured MET fans, when the BRAVES start playing better teams the standings will look much different.
Today’s final was 13-12 in a some what typical Wrigley game.
The DREADED BRAVES committed 3 errors, used 7 pitchers.
They remain 3 1/2 games behind our BELOVED METS.
Chris Reitsma allowed two inherited runners to score, while allowing two earned runs himself in 2/3 of an inning pitched, and boy did BOBBY COX look ANGRY.
P:S I spoke to a friend of mine earlier today who claims that ROGER (THE ROCKET) CLEMENS WILL SIGN WITH BOSTON WITHIN 3-5 DAYS.
Lets just say, he’s close to the situation, and he better be right.
That should be interesting, don’t you think?????????
Revenge is a dish best served cold!
Boston-METS World Series
First World Series against METS a loss, last World Series against the METS a better loss – that would be called FULL CIRCLE, don’t you think?

BRAVES WATCH MAY 28, 2006
Were off to meet the WIZARD, the ******** WIZARD of BRAVES, because,
because,
because,
because, because, because of the wonderful things he does, well wonderful if you’re a DREADED BRAVE fan that is.
Yesterdays 2-1 win over the WOEFUL CUBBIES was typical Bobby and I have to say, THIS MUST STOP.
Marcus Giles’ 2-run, 2-out double in the second provided the DREADED BRAVES all the support that Horatio Ramirez and the rest of the BRAVES pitchers would need.
The most interesting and telling part of the game for me yesterday was the ninth inning. The day after Ken Ray got his first save as a Brave, Chris Reitsma came in to start the ninth. After getting the first two batters he faced, he gave up a single and Bobby Cox YANKED him. Mike Remlinger came in to get his second save of the year.
MET FANS, this is goooooood. Why? ‘Cause as of right now, it looks like the closer for the Atlanta Braves is?????????? Bullpen by COMMITTEE.
Without a reliable closer, the DREADED BRAVES won’t hang on too long.
At 26-23 the DREADED BRAVES remained 3 1/2 games behind our WONDERFUL METS.
Today should be an interesting day at Wrigley Field, with temperatures around 85 and the WIND blowing out at around 15-20 mph this will be the UGLIEST day of all for the WOEFUL CUBBIES.
Where’s the WICKED WITCH of the MIDWEST when you need her?

DAVID’S BACK, MAKES METS ALL WRIGHT
David Wright sat out last night’s game with back spasms, which left our MET PROFESSIONALS one hit-man short and an arsenal minus some key bullets. Entering the game today, and with Dontrell (what you talkin’ about) Willis on the mound, the MET PROFESSIONALS found themselves short two more professional hit-men when Willie Randolph decided to give both Cliff Floyd and Carlos (the Grim Reaper) DelGado the day off. With the uncertainty of David Wright’s back, this did not seem like a wise choice from a wise manager. But last night David Wright was visited by the back fairy – and a half a dozen MET trainers. By game time today, David Wright declared himself fit for action.
With Tommy (Gun) Glavine on the mound, and David Wright inserted into the line-up, it was like shooting fish in a barrel. Tom Glavine (8-2) was perfect through five innings, pitched ’til the eighth, before departing after giving up a two-run bomb to Joe Borchard. But by that time the METS had built a comfortable 7-1 lead. Tommy (Gun) Glavine would strike out nine fish while recording his 283rd win.
David Wright, having missed last night’s game, would not be denied his fish limit today. David Wright would go 4-4, two doubles, two RBIs and a walk, reaching base against Dontrell Willis and the rest of the MARLIN pitchers all five times he faced them. Ramon Castro would hit a bomb off of Dontrell (1-6) and for the second time in Dontrell Willis’ career, he would lose to our beloved METS.
The MET PROFESSIONALS remained three and a half games ahead of the DREADED BRAVES, who beat the woeful Cubbies today 2-1.
Orlando, the Duke of Flushing, will make his MET PROFESSIONAL debut Sunday as the METS look to win the rubber game of the three-game set.
Let all us MET fans and baseball fans everywhere remember what this weekend is about:
The reason there is baseball, the reason there is blogging, the reason there is a United States itself is because of all our brave men and women who have died so that we may have the rights, privileges and luxuries we enjoy today. From World War I to the brutal attack on Pearl Harbor through Viet Nam and the most necessary war against terrorism today, both here in the United States and the deserts of Iraq. We salute all the men and women who serve our country without question, without prejudice and with full knowledge of the risks and the stakes, and pray for their safety for a job worth doing and a life well done.
The proudest job I have ever done was to serve my country in the United States Navy.
